Text Box: BRENDON FLYNN SAT PREPText Box: Beginning with the October 2015 PSAT (and then from the MARCH 2016 SAT onward) students will see a NEW VERSION of the College Board entrance exam which is now designed to reflect the “Common Core.” While the College Board has stated that the test will be easier, in our opinion - from the sample versions I’ve seen - the exact opposite may be true. The new test will certainly present a far greater challenge to both students and instructors - SIMILAR TO THE ACT - both in prep time required and investment of effort. The changes are many: from the elimination of the Writing Section (the easiest part), the removal of the guessing penalty (a key to score increases), a greater reliance on more technical text and vocabulary, the inclusion of highly technical charts and graphs on the reading section, and a Math that now will cover all concepts through TRIGONOMETRY. Easier? Really...? It doesn't seem likely. I AM STRONGLY ADVISING ALL CURRENT SOPHOMORES (AND EVEN “ADVANCED” FRESHMAN) TO PREPARE FOR AND ATTEMPT THE CURRENT TEST PRIOR TO JANUARY 2016 - IF THE COLLEGES OF THEIR CHOICE WILL ALLOW (MOST WILL). FALL IS THE FINAL CHANCE TO PREP, ALLOWING FOUR CHANCES THROUGH JANUARY (OCT, NOV, DEC, JAN) AND ADVANTAGE OF MY FREE REVIEWS AND SEMINARS OR ANY PRIVATE FOLLOW UP. IT’S A “NO-BRAINER.” PLEASE check with the schools you’d like to attend first! I’ve mastered the art of teaching the current version in the past 12 years - to the tune of 63 perfect scores. I will certainly do everything I must to remain the premier teacher in my field for the new test. CURRENT TEST PREP CLASSES ARE NOW REGISTERING through fall (see “REGISTER HERE” above).
